The most common, and usually first, question people ask us is ‘Why do you want to move to Alaska?’ The easy answer is ‘Because we can.’ Glibness aside, we are extremely grateful that we are at a place in our lives where we can do this. My brother and sister-in-law are in Michigan and can take care of Mom. Bill is semi-retired and can spend some extra time planning, packing and then exploring Anchorage and beyond. I can work remotely. No kids at home so schedules are freer. We’re up for an adventure. But the biggest reason is that it fulfills a bucket list item of ‘live in Alaska for a year.’ Simple as that!

congratulations on having the courage to do bucket list things. I hope it’s a great experience. 4 yrs ago we said let’s move to the ocean. North Carolina was a bucket list item for us and we love life down here.
